OU’s Patty Gasso was name Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year after leading her team to a 47-4 regular-season record in 2013 and the top ranking in the two major national polls. This is Gasso’s 19th season at Oklahoma, and this is her 10th Big 12 regular-season title.

The Big 12 Pitcher of the Year is Oklahoma senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts. This is her second year in a row to receive the award. The winningest softball pitcher in OU history, all Ricketts did this year is pitch five no-hitters. She has six in her illustrious college career. Ricketts’ 1,531 stikeouts in her four years at Oklahoma places her second on the all-time Big 12 list. She also is the defending USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and is a finalist for that same honor this year.

Sophomore Shelby Pendley of the Sooners is the 2013 Player of the Year in the Big 12. Pendley led the conference in home runs (10), RBI (30), total bases (59) and slugging percentage (1.157). She is the eighth Oklahoma player to win the award since the Big 12 was formed in 1996 and the fourth in the past six seasons. She is the first sophomore to be named Player of the Year since Kelli Braitsch, also from OU, in 2001.

Freshman of the Year was awarded to Sarah Smith, an infielder for Baylor, and Kathy Shelton of Baylor and Maggie Hull, and outfielder at Kansas, were named Co-Scholar Athletes of the Year. This is the first year the Scholarship Award has been given.
