Seven Big 12 Players Projected In First Two Rounds Of Mock NFL Draft

With the college football season winding d0wn – although many would say that this is the time of year when things really rev up – we are starting to see a number of mock NFL drafts projecting who the top college players are and where they might be headed come next April when projections become reality in the 2014 NFL Draft.

In USA Today’s latest NFL mock draft, seven players from the Big 12 are projected in the opening two rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft, but only two – Baylor offensive guard Cyril Richardson and TCU cornerback Jason Verrett – are projected among the top 32 first-round picks. Five more Big 12 players, two from Oklahoma and one each from Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas Tech were projected in the latest USA Today mock draft as second-round picks.

The five Big 12 players who the USA Today draft experts are currently positioning as second-round selections are cornerback Aaron Colvin and fullback Trey Millard, both from Oklahoma; cornerback Justin Gilbert of Oklahoma State; running  back Lache Seastrunk of Baylor, and tight end Jace Amaro of Texas Tech.

Amaro and Seastrunk are the only underclassmen among the seven Big 12 players cited in the USA Today mock draft. Position-wise, the seven players include three offensive players and four who play defense.
