Kansas' Wiggins, Iowa State's Ejim Named AP All-Americans

On the same day that Andrew Wiggins of Kansas announced that he was going to leave the Jayhawk program after one season and declare for the NBA Draft in June, the Kansas freshman was named to the Associated Press All-America Second Team. Wiggins joins fellow Big 12 star Melvin Ejim of Iowa State on the AP Second Team.

Wiggins, the Big 12 Freshman of the Year, set the Kansas freshman single-season scoring record this season with 597 total points. He led the Jayhawks in scoring, averaging 17. 1 points and six rebounds per game. Wiggins also led Kansas in steals with 41 in 2013-14 and was second on the team in blocked shots to fellow teammate and freshman Joel Embiid. Wiggins recorded 37 blocks this season.

Ejim was the only player in a power basketball conference to average at least 17 points and eight rebounds while shooting 50 percent field-goal shooting and 34 percent behind the three-point line. Ejim was the 2013-14 Big 12 Player of the Year.

Four other Big 12 players earned AP All-America Honorable Mention honors: Joel Embiid of Kansas, Marcus Smart of Oklahoma State, Juwan Staten of West Virginia and DeAndre Kane of Iowa State.
