NFL Signs Lengthy List Of Undrafted Big 12 Players

We’ve all read and heard about many of the college players who were fortunate enough to be selected as part of the 2014 NFL Draft held about a month ago. That’s only natural. But what about the even larger numbers of aspiring professional football prospects who were undrafted and signed on afterward as free agents in hopes of fulfilling their childhood dreams.

All-Big 12 center Gabe Ikard of Oklahoma was one of the former Big 12 stars who went undrafted in the NFL draft and signed as an NFL free agent.

We’ve put together a list of the free-agent signings that we know of involving former Big 12 players who were passed over by NFL teams in this year’s draft.

This may not be an all-inclusive list, but it is highly representative of the large number of players who are hopeful of making an NFL 53-man roster but whose chances are considerably more difficult than their peers who were personally selected in the seven rounds of the draft.

Three NFL teams -the  Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans – signed four free agents each from Big 12 schools. The Detroit Lions and Houston Texans were next with three free agents from Big 12 schools.
