Oklahoma State pitcher Brendan McCurry was a first-team selection by NCBWA and also was named to the Baseball America second team
TCU right-handed starting pitcher Preston Morrison was a second-team selection by both Baseball America and the NCBWA, and his left-handed teammate, Brandon Finnegan was named to the second team by the college baseball writers and to the Baseball Amercia third team.
Zach Fish of Oklahoma State, the 2014 Big 12 Player of the Year and outfielder Mark Payton of Texas were named third-team All-Americans by Baseball America.
McCurry ended his senior season at Oklahoma State with a school record 35 appearances, a 5-0 record, an ERA of 0.38 and 19 saves. He also recorded 38 strikeouts in helping lead the Cowboys to the regular-season conference championship.
Morrison and Finnegan were No, 1 and No. 2 among the TCU starters this season. Morrison was the conference’s Pitcher of the Year this season. He led the Big 12 in 2014 with a 1.32 ERA and a record of 9-4. Finnegan was the Big 12’s only first-round selection in last week’s MLB draft, selected by the Kansas City Royals with the 17th overall pick. He has a record of 9-3 in 16 starts, an ERA of 2,12 entering the College World Series and 129 strikeouts.
McCurry and Morrison were also honored this season by Louisville Slugger as second-team All-Americans. Finnegan and Fish were named to the third team.
